Touring Oregon

We wanted to go camping again this last weekend and we wanted to see some parts of Oregon that we have both never seen before. First up was Crater Lake. We camped at Diamond lake the night before and got eaten by mosquitoes. Even with spray they would attack. Everyone in the campground had candles, long sleeve clothes and spray and you could still hear everyone swatting the bugs. Poor Kyler got it the worst. They just wouldn't stay away from the poor kid. So we decided after seeing Crater lake in the morning we would head for a mosquito free camp (only available on the coast). When the boys woke us up super early in the morning we just threw everything in the car to escape the "naughty bugs" (cash's term for mosquitoes) and ate breakfast along the way. So we really put the miles around Oregon this weekend but we sure got to see a lot of stuff and go a lot of places we have never been before. Before we hit the coastline we hit National Creek Falls, of course Crater Lake, and a wildlife safari outside of Roseburg Oregon. Once we hit the coastline we drove from Bandon (below Coos bay) North looking for campsites. After a very disappointing 20+ campground full signs we finally called a friend and crashed at their place at 1030 at night. So the camping didnt turn out as planned but we ended up hitting one last place before returning home and we decided it would be Pacific City- my favorite beach.

Wildlife Safari... this was one you sit in your car and drive around in it hoping an animal will come up to your car to say Hi.

The grizzlys were the coolest. This picture was taken without the zoom on the camera-- they were very close. Cash kept teasing it with pieces of his hamburger patty that he was eating at the time. The window was down so he would wave the pieces out the window and say say in a very growly voice-- "hey bear you want some hananer?? and Kyler has chicken-- you want some chicken?" He was just giggling the whole time. And Below is a picture of the emu that scared Cash. It came right up to the car and kept snapping its beak at Cash right outside his window. Perry being the big tease that he is cracked open Cash's window and immediately Cash yells "Im stared it bite me"meaning he was scared that it might bite him and he was hiding his hands behind Kyler. It was one very scary emu.

The boys walking around the tide pools... You can see how bad Kyler got bit-- his bites really swelled up big too. Cash had quite a few bites as did both perry and I but Kylers really turned into giant welts.

Kylers turns 2!

The train cake was a major hit with both of the boys. Neither one of the boys wanted to eat the train though, they just liked to look at it and to make sure it didnt fall off the tracks. Kyler ate all the frosting off of his piece of cake and then proceeded to scrape frosting off of the big cake, so he definitely got a ton of sugar for the day. Happy Birthday Kyler!

Busy Weekend

First we went camping at Badger Lake up by Mount Hood. We were able to get the campsite with the best view of the lake. The boys had a blast. They loved the tent- we left the top off so we just had the netting so you could really see the stars- and they actually slept. Wow. We also went on a short hike and the boys were giggling the entire time going under and over fallen trees around the lake, until of course Kyler got wet then the hike was over. Marshmallows were also a big hit-- Kyler didnt get his own stick for long, he was too excited to hold still, but he still loved eating them.

Our tent was to the left of Cash and the door opened up to the lake. Very pretty. The lake below where Perry and Cash are rafting is at frog lake. We stopped here on the way back for another boat ride.
When we got back we were invited to go to a party thrown by some of Perry's parents friends. I love this party, they have so much stuff for the kids can do-- horseback rides, the blow up bouncy slide, and tons of catered food and drinks. (they even had one of those fake rodeo bulls to ride and some bungee trampoline things) The kids loved it. Cash really enjoyed the horse back ride. He kept watching himself in the mirror around the arena and would smile at himself -- like look what Im doing. They gave him the tallest horse, but Cash was all smiles.
